Overview of Myanmar Institute for Peace and Security (MIPS)
The Myanmar Institute for Peace and Security (MIPS) is a non-governmental, non-partisan “think-and-do-tank” providing principal stakeholders with the insight needed to navigate the opportunities and challenges of the ongoing peace and security transition in Myanmar.

Our primary areas of focus include:

  • Federalism and Constitutionalism
  • Security Dialogue in the Peace Process
  • The Township-based Conflict Monitoring System and Transitional Security Challenges
  • Decentralization and Peace-related Development

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of Senior Finance and Operation Officer, Finance and Operation Officer is responsible for the following functions:


  • Carry out daily bookkeeping and weekly cash reconciliation
  • Handle payment of expenses and ensure proper cash handling
  • Assist Supervisor in managing all payroll activities
  • Assist Supervisor in preparing the following financial reports in compliance with donor requirements:
  • (a) Monthly expense report for each project grant
  • (b) Monthly reconciliation/analysis of budget vs actual spending on each project grant
  • (c) Monthly bank reconciliation
  • (d) Quarterly and annual financial statements, including Balance Sheet and Income/Expenditure Statement for each project
  • (e) Annual combined financial statements for MIPS’s overall programme


  • Assist in administrative and logistic functions of MIPS, including all travel arrangements and events/workshops management, to ensure smooth programme implementation
  • Assist in procurement processes in accordance with MIPS’s operational and financial policies and procedures
  • Maintain and update assets and inventory registers with physical check
  • Any other tasks as required by MIPS

Selection Criteria

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or relevant discipline (required)
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in the related field (required)
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel (required)
  • Basis proficiency in English (both written and oral) is essential
  • Demonstrated ability to adhereto ethical standards and integrity
  • Understanding of and ability to apply cultural, gender, religion, race and conflict sensitivity in MIPS’s daily operations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and work well in a team
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively, with excellent time management
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work at times against difficult deadlines
  • Attention to details is essential
